Health & Safety

The crime rate in Athens is low and the city is considered safe when it is compared to Paris and Rome. There are still pickpockets roaming the city, but reports of incidents decrease every year. Violent crimes are not an issue; women can walk safely through the streets, but there are still a couple of areas that should be avoided after dark.

There are still street scams but with a little common sense, hesitation and the ability to say no, they are not a major issues.
