Plan your trip: Ideas home · Adventure · Budget holidays · Christmas · Cruises · International ideas

Choose a beach vacation by the kind of stay you want: a lively coastal base, an island escape or a quieter setting. Our two beach collections help you build a shortlist, then test it against access, facilities and your dates.
A beach holiday can mean staying close to restaurants and transport, choosing a small island base or combining the coast with a city. Decide how you want to spend the hours outside the water as well as the beach time itself. A beautiful stretch of sand is only one part of the trip.
This archive collection features Ofu in American Samoa, Bai Kem on Phu Quoc, Medjumbe in Mozambique, Bangaram in India and Anse Georgette in Seychelles. Use the locations as research leads. The original “undiscovered” title should not be read as a current guarantee of isolation, access or limited development.
The famous-beach collection ranges from Copacabana and Waikiki to Cancún, Negril, Boracay and other established names. It helps identify destinations where the wider resort or city experience can matter as much as the sand. Compare the precise area you would stay in rather than treating an entire destination as one beach.
| Style | What it gives you | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| City and beach | Coastal time alongside restaurants, neighbourhoods and cultural outings. | Hotel location, local transport and the journey to your preferred beach. |
| Single island base | Fewer accommodation changes and time to explore one place. | Arrival connections, facilities and excursions that interest you. |
| Several coastal stops | Variety between islands or beach areas. | Transfer days, luggage handling and how much beach time remains. |
| Secluded setting | A quieter pace away from a busy resort centre. | Access arrangements, meals, transport and the services available nearby. |

Eagle Beach in Aruba, pictured above, is an illustration of a Caribbean coastal setting; it is not one of the five beaches in the quieter-beach story. A photograph cannot establish current crowds, swimming conditions or public access. Use current local information for those decisions.
Places change. Vietnam Tourism’s current Phu Quoc overview describes Khem Beach among the island’s southern bays. Research today’s accommodation and access conditions rather than relying on the older article’s description of an undeveloped hideaway.
The Seychelles hero shows Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue. The older collection’s Anse Georgette is on Praslin. Keep those islands and beaches distinct when planning, and open the Seychelles guide before building an island route.

Rio de Janeiro links a coastal trip with a large city. Its Copacabana beach appears in our famous-beach collection; the panorama above shows the wider city from Sugarloaf. Open the Rio de Janeiro guide to decide which areas and experiences should sit around your beach days.
Once you have shortlisted a place, compare the accommodation base, arrival arrangements and budget together. Use Hotels for existing accommodation guides and Budget-Friendly Holidays if the complete trip cost will decide between destinations. Choose your dates before interpreting any advertised room price.
It depends on what you value. A remote setting can reduce choice for meals, transport and activities, while a well-known beach may suit a traveller who wants those conveniences. Compare your preferred pace and the practical arrangements.
Start with the time available after arrival and departure. One base may deliver more relaxed days; several stops can offer variety if you allow enough time for each transfer and do not expect every travel day to be a full beach day.
