Cost of Living in Ukraine

The cost of living in the Ukraine is inexpensive for some visitors and expensive for others. Electronics, clothing and high quality equipment are expensive, but domestic made products are inexpensive.
Taxis and public transportation are a bargain, and Real Estate prices are reasonable when they are compared to other European cities. Hotel rooms range from very expensive to really cheap depending on the location and the amenities. Food prices are reasonable, but some restaurants can be expensive especially in tourist areas. Overall, the Ukraine offers tourists an affordable holiday.

A decent hotel in this emerging country will cost around $100 US a night, and a good meal will cost between $30 and $40 US. Hotels in the countryside cost $50 US for a private bath, but there are rooms for $15 to $20 US a night without a private bath. Sightseeing adventures with a tour guide can be expensive. Most people spend $60 to $100 US a day to visit obscure out-of-the-way historic sites. Some taxi drivers take advantage of foreigners, but tourists can usually travel across the country by taxi for about $30 US.
