Introducing Poland

Indestructible Poland Is Embracing A Modern 21st Century But The Country Can’t Ignore Its Tumultuous Past

The exact number of aggressors who have ruled Poland over the years is hard to identify, but it is safe to say that Poland has been beaten to a pulp so many times it has developed an indestructible will to be free. Our Poland travel guide takes you through a new Poland filled with clubs that never close, world cuisine that lingers on the palate of eclectic travelers, and a café culture that rivals Parisian charm. But the old Poland is never out of sight.
Old women selling flowers are still prominent figures in Warsaw, especially in the newly developed Old Town area, and the 14th century Gothic castles still capture the essence of a country that adored their Teutonic Knights. The medieval centers of Wroclaw and Krakow can propel any visitor back in time, and the small towns that dot the countryside still show the incalculable damage that Nazi Germany had on this noble nation. Jewish cemeteries along with filthy political prisons still remind travelers that the past is still a big part of the future of Poland. In spite of those awful reminders, the Polish countryside still maintains an earthy ambience that is filled with rustic appeal. But on the down side, Poland still has an unemployment rate that is much higher than its EU counterparts, so the new generation is leaving the country to find work, and the political atmosphere of the country seems to vacillate as the people come of age as a member of the European Union. But, that being said, politics never gets in the way of a bottle of Vodka or the meat stew and cabbage that gives them the confidence to endlessly discuss politics as well as philosophy.

Poland In A Few Words

[fancy_image path="public://Warsaw_poland.jpg" alt="Warsaw, Poland" align="left" title="Warsaw, Poland" caption="Warsaw, Poland" image_style="quicktab-normal" lightbox="true"][/fancy_image]

It is hard to describe the beauty and the character of Poland in a few words. There is no doubt that Poland is a country filled with natural resources and a history that spans countless centuries. The Polish people are a resilient group. They continue to live in the shadows of their larger European neighbors, but that is changing as new money flows into the country. New roads, office buildings, and shopping centers are the talk of nation, and a new political forum is reshaping the country’s credibility in the world economic arena. But, all that progress is not stopping the Poles from respecting their heritage. They continue to move around in horse-drawn carts in the small towns, and they protect the primeval forest areas that hold secrets from the past. The rustic allure of Poland is still its main attraction, and it will continue to be the catalyst that keeps visitors coming back for more. In a sentence, Poland is where the East meets the West in generous portions of joy as well as sorrow.
