Spring is the best time to visit, but autumn is also a good time. May, June, September and October are the best months because most of the country’s tourist infrastructure takes off during the cold months, especially on the islands. Some small islands close completely from the end of November until the first days of April. It’s also hard to get a ferry and bus transportation during the cold months.

The first tourists start to arrive in April and weather conditions are usually perfect until the middle of June. The beaches aren’t crowded and the ancient sites are not that busy early in the season. There plenty of transportation choices and all the hotels are open for business by then.

From the middle of June to the end of August, Greece is filled with tourists. It’s hot and humid; the beaches are filled with skimpy bikinis so it’s party time on the islands. It can be hard to find a hotel room during the summer. Most of the trendy hotels are booked well in advance.
