The cost of living in Cairo continues to increase. Food costs are rising 15 to 20% a year and lodging is considered expensive. Restaurant prices are comparable to US restaurant prices, but you can get hotel and food deals, if you do some research. Overall the cost of living is similar to the cost of living in a medium size city in the US.
