Brazil Weather (Climate) Information, Brazil Travel Guide and Tourist Information

Brazil has 5 distinct climates: equatorial, semi-arid, tropical, subtropical and highland tropical. Brasilia and Sao Paulo, which sit on the Mato Grasso Plateau, have mild climates with temperatures averaging around 70 degrees throughout the year. Cities like Salvador, Recife, Natal and Rio are much warmer.

Average temperatures range from the mid 80s to the high 90s depending on the season. The southern part of the country has a subtropical climate which means frost is likely during the winter months of July through August when the temperatures drop below freezing.

The Amazon area is wet, humid and warm with temperatures staying in the 90s most of the year. The rest of the country enjoys 70 to 90 degree temperatures all year long, but the summer months of December, January and February can be extremely hot and humid. It rains in the Amazon area all year long, but it’s dry in the costal areas.
