Miami Health & Safety (Is Miami Safe?), Miami Travel Guide and Online Tourist Information

Is Miami Safe?

Like any other big city in America Miami has its share of crime. Some areas of Miami are safer than others, but the crime rate is dropping in the city. The tourist areas in Miami are pretty safe, especially areas like Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne. Common sense is always your best security weapon when you use it, so carry your money in a money belt or leg pouch that’s secure and out of sight. It’s best to avoid areas like Overtown, Opa Locka, Carol City and Liberty City. Those areas have the highest crime rates, so you don’t want to get lost in any of those areas. If you have a car keep it locked and always be on guard for pickpockets in crowded areas. Don’t wear flashy jewelry, and keep an eye on your luggage when traveling.
