The Tropic of Cancer divides Mexico into a tropical as well as temperate climate. The south of Mexico enjoys temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees all year with only a 5 degree change from winter to summer. The low lying areas in the north also enjoy a warm climate, but the average yearly temperature is only 66 to 75 degrees, due to lower temperatures in the winter. The cities in the north have a dry climate, but do experience sporadic rainfall at times. The cities in the south get an average rainfall of over 79 inches a year. Some cities in the north can experience hot and humid conditions; the desert area in Northern Mexico can reach over 105 degrees.
