China Weather and Best Time to Visit, China Travel Guide and Tourist Information

The Weather

China has unbearable heat and extreme cold. The country is divided into weather regions which include North and Northeast, Central, Northwest, South, and Tibet. The best time to visit is March through May or September to early November. In central China the summers are hot, humid, and generally uncomfortable so cities like Shanghai, Wuhan, Nanjing, and Chongqing are called furnaces because of the heat. The South is hot and humid from April to September so Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Hainan are subject to typhoons during this rainy as well as hot time of the year. China’s Northwest is hot and dry in summer and cold in the winter. Winter can be very cold in the North and Northeast especially in November and December and March and April. May through August is very hot. Tibet’s weather most of the year can go from extreme cold in the morning to a heat wave in the afternoon. In the winter Tibet has fierce winds and extreme cold.
