The statue is located on 710 meter high Corcovada Hill and has blessed the city for the last 78 years. Sugar loaf Mountain’s cable car system was established as a tourist attraction in 1912. It is considered one of the safest cable car systems in the world. Sugar Loaf is surrounded by tropical vegetation that has disappeared from other areas of the Brazilian coastline.
