Costa Rica Beaches

The beaches on both sides of the country give scenic beauty a new meaning. If you’re staying on the Pacific side, the Nicoya Peninsula is the place to kick back and relax. The sand patterns and the horizon make it one of the most beautiful places in the world. Manuel Antonio is another Pacific side gem where you can scuba dive, snorkel, or just walk along the unspoiled shoreline. If you want to surf or just sunbathe in the buff, go to Mal Pais. It’s a couple’s beach where clothes are optional. If you’re staying on the Caribbean side, you’ll want to experience the Uvita Islands, especially if you’re in to surfing. Bonita Beach has a unique shoreline and the reefs make it a great snorkeling and scuba destination. If you want to hike and get in touch with the natural environment of the Caribbean side, Tortuguero is the beach for you, and if you want to get up close and personal with the turtles, crocodiles, monkeys and the exotic birds that congregate in the area, Barra Del Colorado beach is a must.
