Some tourist ask the question is Canada safe because they hear stories about the cities in the Unites States and immediately assume that Canada has the same sort of safety issues. Is Canada safe?
The answer is yes and no. Some of the big cities have gang problems and violent criminal acts, but they usually are not in the same league as the violence in some of the big US cities. Cities like Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver have their fair share of thieves and pickpockets and they do prey on tourists, but the police in Canada do a great job controlling petty crime. The Northern Territories experience a little petty crime but violent incidents are rare.
