The Beaches of Bali

Trying to pick the top beaches in Bali is a difficult task, but there are three beaches that stand out for several reasons.

Sanur Beach, which is 10 minutes away from Denpasar, is a white sand beach with calm water. It's a wonder place to experience a breathtaking sunset. Sanur doesn’t attract a lot of tourists, so it's considered one of gems of Bali. You can canoe along the coast, snorkel around the coral reef or sail to one of the outlying islands for a mini adventure. The town of Sanur is a quiet beach haven, but there are plenty of hotels and restaurants to enjoy. You can also stay in a Balinese style resort, if you want to experience the tradition and culture of the island.

Legian Beach is another spectacular beach. Often called the United Nations of Beaches by the islanders, Legian offers westerners the opportunity to go nude if they want to experience a day at the beach in the buff. Legian surf offers tourists some serious wave action, so the this beach attracts surfers and other water sport enthusiasts Legian is a very affordable part of the island with bars, shops and beach vendors to keep you amused and entertained. Legian is a non-stop party beach where football, canoeing and walking along the coastline are done in the presence of scantily clad western women.

Jimbaran Beach is another picture perfect island beach. Jimbaran Beach is just south of the airport and is filled with five star hotels and excellent restaurants. Not everyone knows about Jimbaran Beach, so you can avoid the crowds as you enjoy the seafood and the native entertainment. Slow boats glide along the coastline and a sunset dinner on the beach is a must. The cafés pull out their chairs and the beach becomes an unforgettable open air restaurant. The calm water, island music and the romantic mood, make this beach a one-of-a-kind beach experience.
