Cost of Living in Bali

Cost of Living in Bali, Living Standards, Bali Travel Guide and Online Tourist Information

The cost of living in Bali is much lower than the cost of Living in Europe, Australia or the US and it is ever cheaper than other parts of Asia. Hotel, food and transportation costs are considered reasonable and other necessities are inexpensive. Bali uses the Indonesian Rupiah as its currency, but dollars and Euros are also accepted in hotels, restaurants and some retail shops. Tipping is not part of the Indonesian or the Balinese way of life, but the staff in hotels and restaurants do accept tips, but it is not the accepted 15% to 20% that Americans are use to tipping. Taxi drivers don’t expect tips, but may avoid giving you change, hoping you will let them earn a little more. The best way to handle tipping is to add a little extra to the check, if you think it’s deserved.
