Shanghai Attractions and Sights in Shanghai

China’s largest city does offer visitors a mixture of natural attractions, as well as man-made wonders. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower sits on the banks of the Huangpu River and is 1,535 feet high. A trip to Shanghai definitely means stopping by the Shanghai Museum to see its rare cultural pieces. A visit to Shanghai Grand Theatre in the heart of the city near People’s Square is worth the trip.

Other attractions are Frenchtown, Yu Gardens, The Bund has historical buildings that were once trading houses and banks in Shanghai. The active Jade Buddha Temple where 70 monks live and work is an interesting experience. The beautiful gardens at the Ling-Yin Temple are a major attraction. The Temple is the home for the largest Buddha sculpture in the world, plus there are another 500 secondary statues of Buddha and 300 other carved rock formations that resemble Buddha throughout the garden, which make it a haven for Chinese and foreign tourists.

  • Take a tour of Shanghai on a vintage 1930's sidecar motorbike. They are flexible on the tours you want to do.
  • Visit Shanghai's many tea houses, including Tang Yun tea house (199 Hengshen Lu, Hengshen Lu stop on Line 1)
